Kristin Cook began her career as a middle school educator, after having earned her Master’s in teaching degree in middle education. Diagnosed with a life-altering chronic pain condition in 2016, she found that her yoga and meditation practice became more important than ever before, allowing her to heal her body, mind, and spirit. This inspired her to begin a career as a yoga and meditation teacher, to help others struggling with the same challenges, specifically anxiety and chronic pain. She continued to follow her passion for helping others and completed certifications in Trauma-Informed Yoga and Social Justice, Yin Yoga, Restorative Yoga, and Mindfulness Meditation. Kristin founded Bluebird Yoga and Wellness in 2021, in response to the overwhelming need that arose out of the Covid-19 pandemic for accessible wellness services that meet people where they are. Kristin has dedicated herself to serving her community, and currently volunteers with the Indian Cultural Association of Howard County and the Downtown Sykesville Connection. Helping to create a more compassionate and inclusive community for all is a deeply rooted passion that she brings to her work. Kristin teaches from a trauma-informed perspective, providing options and variations to empower students to make choices that best suit their needs and comfort.

Nancy Fallon,
E-RYT 200, RYT 500, YACEP

Nancy Fallon holds a degree in studio art and education and taught elementary art for the first seven years of her career. While working through self-discovery and healing from her own trauma, she became a yoga teacher, trauma- informed certified, and began studying yogic rest modalities including yin, restorative, myofascial release, and yoga nidra. She went on to work as a chiropractic assistant and earn her Yoga Therapeutic Specialist certification through Yoga Medicine. This transformed her teaching tenfold as she began to teach through the lens of Traditional Chinese Medicine, orthopedic care, spinal health, and nervous system support. She also began to correlate trauma with chronic illness and pain, sought out a life coach certification, and began her studies of somatic therapy. Altogether, her skilled approach meets students where they are with empathy and deep knowledge to map symptoms and understand the healing path for each individual based on an integrated picture of the whole person.
Certified Yoga and Meditation Teacher
Devon DeLeonardo,
RYT-200, RCYT
-
Devon DeLeonardo understood the impact of stress early in her career, as she earned a masters degree in wildlife biology that focused on the stress response in mammals. She later earned teaching certifications in middle school sciences, secondary sciences, and administration and served as an elected member of a public school Board of Education. Her personal experience during Covid, as well as witnessing the emotional response of her students, led her to understand the importance of belonging and safety within oneself and in community. Through this deep-knowing, she began embedding mindfulness and self-regulation practices into her classroom. She earned certifications in Trauma-Informed Yoga, Children and Teen’s Yoga, and Advanced Somatic Practices. Amazed by the positive outcome of these strategies, Devon began working directly with teachers as a Mentor Behavior Coach, helping educators understand the connection between cognition and emotion and providing them with tools to create spaces of safety and belonging. She continues to combine her understanding of the science of learning and the science of healing to the work she does with individual clients, specializing in children, teens, and caregivers. Devon teaches courses on Social Emotional Learning at McDaniel College, regularly presents her work in publications and at conferences, and is currently pursuing her license as a yoga therapist.
